Its always enjoyable to work someone new on a new band, even better when it’s a special event station.
This evening I thought I would try my random wire and IT-100 LDG tuner on 80m using FT8. Not a lot to FT8 as its just an exchange of signal report and grid square, but this also means its a great way of testing out your station set up.
After calling CQ with no apparent response I spotted GB1HNY calling CQ, after a replies to him I get a response and complete the QSO. So the set up is working fine in 80m not bad for a bit of wire vertical (I think its about 6m long) 🙂
